Sacramento, California's state capital, is less than 100 miles from San Francisco; but the drive along I-80 can often prove to be a big waste of time. If you're looking for a convenient, cost-effective, and hassle-free way to travel between these two great Northern California destinations, Capitol Corridor is your answer.

Here's everything you need to know about riding Capitol Corridor between Sacramento and San Francisco.

What Is Capitol Corridor?

Operated by Amtrak, Capitol Corridor is a regional rail service that connects most of the major cities of Northern California, including San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento. Bus connections can take travelers to wine country in the north and lake country in the east.

Capitol Corridor's most frequent service connects Sacramento to San Francisco, by way of a short bus transfer at Emeryville Station or a BART connection in Richmond.
